What is Rooting? | How to root an Android Phone? | Complete Guide to do it | Is it available for iphone?

Bootloader, Kernel, Superuser, Recovery, Custom Roms etc...
All these words might be very unfamiliar to many of us. In this, I'll share all my experience and knowledge on working with all of this stuff.

These Uniques which are Only for Android. There's also some kind of it for iPhones and it is called Jailbreaking. But to mention, Jailbreaking is not as powerful as Android's Rooting.

What is JailBreaking?
I'll write a separate post on it and steps to do that as well. I'll update the link here soon.

I really think I'm an apt person to write this post as I had quite a lot of experience in this field.
Sometimes I've bricked my devices too. But later learned how to make it work.

So I'll try to explain all of these trying my best for all those who aren't familiar with this kind of things.

What is Rooting?

Rooting an Android device means, unlocking or unleashing its True potential. i.e., enabling super user access to your devices such as tweaking all the hidden parts of your OS and kernel and even recoveries. If you ever used a Linux-based desktop Operating Systems like Ubuntu or Fedora etc..., you might have heard the word Root or superuser quite often than in windows. As Android is also a Linux based Operating system, we can have that super power here also.
But many manufacturers lock it by default.

For Doing this, you need to know about something called Bootloader.

Bootloader: That's a small code which loads everything from scratch as the name says, THE BOOTLOADER.😚.Used to boot the Operating System.

How to Root?

  • First, you have to Unlock the Bootloader.Doing this may void your warranty. Some manufacturers provide official tools to do this stuff in that case your warranty stays safe. Xiaomi also does that but we have to apply for it with genuine reasons and they'll verify it manually and grant you permission to download via SMS in 3 to 9 days. I was really excited when I got the SMS on the 3rd day to unlock my Redmi 3s prime.
  • If you don't have any official tool, you have to do it using some Android Debugging commands after connecting it to your PC. Refer XDA for Device specific commands.
  • Once you've unlocked your device, flash a custom recovery to tweak your phone.
  • I would personally recommend TWRP recovery for doing that considering it's good UI.

  • After that step, you can flash any zip file supporting your device such as a custom kernel, a system app etc...
  • Ex: You can flash a Dolby Atmos Zip for your device to increase its sound output.
  • To control root access to different apps flash a zip like SuperSu, from which you can grant individual root permissions to apps you trust keeping security in mind.
How to enter recovery mode in Android?
How to open bootloader or Fastboot mode?

I'll write a small guide for those two questions and some common queries and update the links here just to not make this a very long post.

That's pretty much it for rooting.

I can answer all your queries here.

We'll have another post real quick regarding all the advantages and disadvantages of Rooting and more about custom ROMs.

Don't miss it...

Stay Subscribed 😋.

Share the knowledge.

Hope it Helped. Have a Great Day!
